The Canadian power hitter gets the call

The 22-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, will make his major league debut Thursday afternoon at Rogers Centre against the Toronto Blue Jays, just 30 miles from where he grew up.

Caissie has been one of the hottest hitters in the minors this season. In 93 games for Iowa, he is batting .289 with 22 home runs and a .955 OPS. Over his five-year minor league career, he has collected 81 home runs and posted an .873 OPS across 499 games.

Originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the second round in 2020, Caissie joined the Cubs organization in December of that year as part of the trade that sent Yu Darvish to San Diego. The deal also brought right-hander Zach Davies and prospects Reginald Preciado, Yeison Santana, and Ismael Mena to Chicago.
