🚨 BREAKING PANIC IS GROWING IN THE BRONX — Yankees ace Max Fried has reportedly made a worrying admission about his injury situation, instantly sending concern through New York as fans fear the team’s championship hopes could already be facing a serious threat before the season reaches its most important stretch 👀💔👇👇👇

Yankees Ace Max Fried Makes Worrying Admission About Injury

Max Fried and Aaron Boone confer in the dugout as the Yankees navigate Fried’s uncertain injury recovery timeline following his IL placement with a left elbow bone bruise.

The New York Yankees avoided catastrophic news on Max Fried’s elbow injury, but the ace left-hander made a worrying admission Friday about his recovery timeline after landing on the injured list with a bone bruise, causing renewed concern among fans.

Fried admitted his recovery timeline remains “ambiguous,” adding that there is no clear timetable for when he will even resume throwing, much less return to the Yankees’ rotation. MRI and CT imaging confirmed that Fried’s UCL is intact and no surgery is required. But a bone bruise heals on its own schedule, not what the team or fans would want.

“Max Fried is heading to the injured list, but the news is relatively positive all things considered: An MRI revealed a bone bruise in his left elbow, per the team. Dr. Neal ElAttrache will look over the imaging, but if there is no ligament damage, the Yankees avoid worst case,” ESPN‘s Jeff Passan reported.

Fried spoke to reporters Friday at Citi Field where the Yankees opened their Subway Series against the New York Mets and was candid on both counts.

“Definitely bummed that I’m gonna have to be missing some time,” he said, though the silver lining, as New York Daily News beat writer Gary Phillips noted, is that no surgery is required and the ligament is clean.

Not every fan exhaled. “Someone is lying! Either Fried fell or got hit with something or the Yankees are full of shit yet again with their injury information,” posted @Ret_Wo3 on X.

Fried’s Return Timeline and No-Throw Program

The IL move is retroactive to May 14. Fried is on a complete no-throw program until he is fully without symptoms or pain. Only then will the Yankees order new imaging before authorizing any new throwing program. The conventional math makes mid-June an optimistic target.

Fried said he will not chase a date at the expense of his elbow.

“As soon as I’m asymptomatic and feeling good, I’ll get more imaging just to clarify it, and then hopefully I’ll start throwing immediately,” he said, as reported by Pinstripes Nation‘s Sara Molnick.

“If you’re the Yankees, you exhale and say ‘yes, this is news you can live with’…” YES Network’s Jack Curry wrote on social media.

Yankees Rotation Faces Test Without Fried

Fried carried a 3.21 ERA and 1.6 bWAR through 10 starts — the rotation’s unambiguous backbone, and the pitcher New York paid to anchor a staff that also awaits Gerrit Cole’s return from Tommy John surgery. Cole is still working through Triple-A rehab. Elmer Rodriguez is the most likely option for Tuesday’s start against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Max Fried Injury Update: Yankees Make Announcement After Left-Hander Leaves Orioles Game - Yahoo Sports

“Yankees fans we caught a break with Max Fried left bone bruise 15 day IL,” posted @Yanks_1995 on X.

“Proactive to the 60-day injured list, delaying eventual TJ surgery and a 2 year disappearance,” wrote @jonfromnyc on X, in an outburst of pessimism. Fried rebuilt himself from Tommy John surgery in 2014 into a two-time All-Star and 2021 World Series champion. The Yankees are counting on him to make the right call again.
