The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted left-hander Andrew Heaney to the major-league roster on Saturday for the first time since signing him to a minor league deal on Sept. 1.
Heaney, 34, recorded a 0.90 ERA in 10 innings over four starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers signed Heaney just days after he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Heaney went 5-10 with a 5.39 ERA in 26 appearances (23 starts) for Pittsburgh this season. Over 12 big-league seasons, He is 56-72 with a 4.55 ERA in 229 appearances (208 starts) with six teams.
Heaney’s longest stint was with the Los Angeles Angels from 2015-21. He also pitched for the Dodgers in 2022.
Los Angeles optioned right-hander Will Klein to Oklahoma City. The team also recalled right-hander Nick Frasso from Oklahoma City and transferred him to the 60-day injured list to open a 40-man roster spot for Heaney.
Klein, 25, is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 14 appearances for the Dodgers this season. Frasso, 26, went 6-1 with a 5.49 ERA in 43 appearances (seven starts) for Oklahoma City with his last appearance coming on Sept. 19.
A St. Louis Cardinals insider reportedly floated a trade involving $260 million star Nick Castellanos, raising questions about the team’s roster plans.
