The Braves haven’t been fully healthy at any point this entire season, but they could look much better very soon.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley are with the team on its current road trip. Bowman noted Acuña is further along than Riley, but it won’t be long before both are activated.
With Acuña and Riley back, alongside this version of Michael Harris II, the final six weeks or so could be the best this Braves offense has looked all season. Unfortunately, they aren’t going to help the club make a playoff push, but this stretch can give Alex Anthopoulos and the rest of the front office a better idea of what they need to focus on this winter.
Additionally, Chris Sale began his rehab assignment last night with the Gwinnett Stripers, tossing 40 pitches.
It was far from the cleanest outing, but results do not matter at all at this point as he ramps things back up. Sale will probably need a couple of more starts before returning to the Braves but could be back in Atlanta by the end of August.
