Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman put his other athletic skill to use this week to help out some fans.
A viral video showed Coleman playing a basketball game at the Erie County Fair this week, with one fan reporting that the second-year wide receiver gave away all of the prizes he won. Coleman was also a basketball star before joining the NFL, playing for national power Michigan State early in his college career.
Fans Share Praise for Keon Coleman
Several fans shared videos of Coleman shooting at a carnival-style game at the fair this week. While it’s not clear if any of the shots went in on the notoriously difficult hoop, one fan shared that Coleman was giving away all of the prizes he won.
“My friend is working at the fair and she just text me that she met Keon Coleman right now,” one fan shared in a post on X, adding, “Another update: friend text me that her son was at the Erie county fair and Keon was playing all the games and giving all the prizes he won to the kids.”
Coleman made some quick connections with Bills fans after he was drafted in 2024. During last year’s preseason, he wore friendship bracelets made by a young fan. The boy’s family helped a local store replicate and sell the bracelets for $8 each, with $5 from each purchase going to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.
“You never know how much you can impact someone with just a smile or a nice gesture,” Coleman said at the time.
“It just came into my heart that he took the time to make the bracelets, so it don’t hurt me to wear them,” Coleman added. “Why would I take them off? I don’t wear them for the media. I wear them because I like them. It was a nice gesture for him and I appreciate it.”
Keon Coleman Looking to Take Step Forward
Coleman flashed his potential during his rookie season, but hit a big roadblock when he suffered a wrist injury midseason and struggled to regain his form once he returned. Coleman finished the season with 29 receptions for 556 yards and four touchdowns.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen shared praise for Coleman’s progress so far in Year 2, noting that he has made some big physical improvements.
“All I can say is he is 100% taking this seriously. He’s bigger right now. He’s faster. He’s stronger. He understands the playbook better,” said quarterback Josh Allen in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
Bleacher Report’s Damian Parson put Coleman on the list of breakout candidates for the upcoming season, noting that he will continue to grow his on-field connection with Allen.
“He is the Bills’ projected starting X-receiver, and he still has a high ceiling,” Parson wrote. “With all-around improvement, Coleman’s impact in this offense can help elevate them to another level, especially in the postseason, where they continue to fall short.
“Allen is an elite quarterback, and having at worst a dominant big-body receiver on the outside will only help when it matters most.”
