Unbelievable: Twins about to accidentally get caught up in Yankees disaster next week

Twins might get swept into Yankees meltdown they didn’t start

The morale around the Minnesota Twins hasn’t exactly been the strongest, considering the front office decimated the Major League roster at the MLB trade deadline last week.

It may not seem like things could be worse for the Twins, but they could be in the position that the New York Yankees are.

Once looking like the top team in the American League East, it hasn’t been a great go of things for the Yankees in recent weeks.

The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the hottest teams in baseball and stole the top spot in the AL East away from the Yankees and even the Boston Red Sox, winners of 8 of their last 10 games, have leapfrogged the Yankees in the standings.

To the Yankees’ credit, they did have an active deadline.

The Yankees addressed their third base need with the addition of Ryan McMahon, bolstered their bench with the arrivals of Amed Rosario and Jose Cabellero, and overturned their bullpen with moves for David Bednar, Camilo Doval, and Jake Bird. Bird has since been optioned to the minors, and the Yankees haven’t exactly found the stability in the bullpen they’ve been looking for.

Yankees chaos might drag Twins into a mess they never saw coming

The chaos that has surrounded the Yankees’ going off the rails has put manager Aaron Boone in the crosshairs of fans.

If the Yankees do, in fact, miss the postseason, it’s hard to make a case that Boone should return as the team’s manager. Yankees fans may not be willing to give Boone the rest of the season to figure things out either.

The Yankees are hosting the Twins for a three-game set next week, and Yankees fans are planning on hosting a “Fire Boone Night” next Tuesday.

There obviously no love lost between Twins fans and the Yankees, so chances are the Minnesota faithful that make the trip will join in on the movement.

And, who knows, perhaps the movement sparks an idea for Twins fans when it comes to how they should speak out against the fact that Rocco Baldelli is seemingly safe despite the disaster the season has turned into.
