2025 will mark the first season that Deebo Samuel will be playing outside of the Kyle Shanahan offense in San Francisco. But according to Samuel, he still has high hopes that he will be productive as ever in his new home alongside a budding superstar at the quarterback position.

The San Francisco 49ers surprised everyone back in March when their traded their former Pro Bowl receiver for just a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The traded showed  that the 49ers clearly didn’t value Samuel as much as most would have expected them to do given Samuel’s resume of great play over the years.

Despite some of the negative opinions that have been floated about him recently, Samuel made it clear while speaking with reporters on Tuesday that he is far from done.

“I still got a lot in the tank,” Samuel said, via a transcript from the team, which was obtained by Pro Football Talk. “I just go out here and get better every day. Whatever position they put me at to go out here and make plays, I’m going to do the best of my ability.”

What Samuel does have in his favor is that he will be joining a Commanders offense that certainly seems to be firing on all cylinders entering 2025. Jayden Daniels of course had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history in 2024, reaching the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

If Samuel can develop a rapport with Daniels this coming season, he may very well be in for a bounce back season in 2025 after what was a pretty unexceptional 2024 season for Samuel.
