ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On Saturday, hundreds of baseball fans from all over the country packed The Battery and Truist Park for All-Star Weekend ahead of the game on Tuesday.
“It’s really cool. The crowds are just absolutely insane,” said Robert Ciancaglini.
While some people are here just for the MLB All-Star Game, others like Jim Perez and Alexis Laidlaw from Florida are on a bigger mission.
“We’re trying to hit every baseball field as a couple, so we really wanted to come to the All-Star Week,” Laidlaw said.
Perez is part of a Facebook group called Ballpark Chasers and has a goal to visit all 30 ballparks in the U.S.
Truist Park is number 4.
“It’s amazing. The place is pretty beautiful,” Perez said.

Maria McIver, who’s from New York, said her daughter has the same goal.
“Last weekend we were at the Mets and then we went to a Liberty game,” McIver said.
For Perez, his love for baseball started when he was a kid.
“I’m Puerto Rican. It’s like what we do. From the minute we can close our fist, we have a baseball in our hands,” Perez said.
He said visiting Truist Park during All-Star Week is a dream come true.
“Baseball is a passion for me and everyone I know pretty much, so it gets a bit emotional,” Perez said.
