Braves News: Daysbel Hernandez, rock bottom on offense, more

Well the Braves lost yet another game in which the pitching did it’s job and the offense completely failed to do its part. I am generally not a “fire the coach” guy, but I think the Braves should fire Tim Hyers, their new hitting coach they brought in this offseason.

It wasn’t insane to try something new and the offense struggled at times last year (though for different and less problematic reasons, for the most part), but I see no evidence that the new approach has helped….anything or any individual player, the Braves’ biggest offensive strength in power hitting is dramatically diminished, and frankly, the offense has just not been good enough and maybe a change can shake things up.

Rookie of the year winner Michael Harris is an absolute catastrophe at the plate (might be generous after last night’s 8th and 9th inning strikeouts from him), primarily for the exact reason that the new approach is supposed to emphasize, in taking pitches and Ozzie Albies has been bad to the point that his club option that has been taken for granted as a steal for years looks like a real decision.

It’s pretty dire in Atlanta right now.
