The Patriots are making moves on the day of the NFL trade deadline, but they’re not trades.
The team is waiving guard Zachary Thomas to make room for new guard Tyrese Robinson. Thomas was claimed off waivers by the Rams at the end of August. He appeared in eight games and played 84 offensive snaps at left guard, left tackle and jumbo tight end and 24 special teams snaps.
The Patriots signed Robinson off of the Vikings’ practice squad. He’s played left and right guard over the past two summers and he started at right guard and right tackle in college at Oklahoma.
Here’s the Patriots’ current offensive line setup:
Offensive tackle: Vederian Lowe, Demontrey Jacobs, Mike Onwenu
Guard: Onwenu, Michael Jordan, Layden Robinson, Tyrese Robinson, Sidy Sow
Center: Ben Brown, Lecitus Smith
The team also has rookie offensive tackle Caedan Wallace on injured reserve and eligible to return. Tackles Caleb Jones and Jalen McKenzie, guard Liam Fornadel and center Bryan Hudson are on the practice squad.
