Cubs’ Kyle Tucker Delivers Strong Message After ‘Wild’ Comeback Victory

The Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Diamondbacks played in an instant classic at Wrigley Field on Friday. After the Cubs got out to a seven-to-one lead heading into the eighth inning, the game unraveled from there. The Diamondbacks put up 10 runs in the top half of the eighth, before the Cubs immediately answered with six runs of their own.

Cubs outfielder and offseason blockbuster acquisition Kyle Tucker hit the go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth, ending up as the winning runs. After the game, he was interviewed about the historic game and his role in an incredible Cubs comeback victory.

On Marquee Sports Network’s Cubs Postgame Live, Tucker reacted to the incredible victory. “I mean, it was a lot of fun, little bit of chaos, but it was a lot of fun.” Tucker also gave a response when asked to describe the game in one word, saying, “It was pretty wild.” “It was pretty wild.”

According to MLB writer Sarah Langs, the 16 runs scored in the eighth inning were the most runs scored in an inning at Wrigley Field since it opened in 1916.

Another notable stat from Langs regarding the Cubs’ win is that they were only the seventh team in MLB history since 1900 to allow at least 10 runs in an inning and still win. In the Cubs clubhouse postgame courtesy of Marquee Sports Network, Tucker commented on the Cubs fans’ reaction to the Cubs’ incredible comeback win, “It was a pretty cool moment, just to see everyone cheering and everything.”

Tucker’s impact on the Cubs has been instrumental in the Cubs’ hot start, and with his latest moment cementing a ‘wild’ comeback win, Tucker has further ingrained himself in Cubs history.

The 27-year-old delivered a spectacular 2025 season, posting a .311 batting average with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and an impressive .840 OPS across 139 games. His leadership during Toronto’s World Series run—including a three-run blast off Shohei Ohtani in Game 7—only elevated his stock further. Current projections place his market value between $182 million and $230 million on a seven to eight-year deal, with comparisons to Wil Adames serving as the baseline reference point. Bichette’s combination of elite hitting ability, relative youth, and postseason heroics makes him a generational talent worth the investment.
