When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce began publicly dating September 2023, their relationship completely broke the internet, and a year and a couple months later, it’s no different.
From Swift making multiple appearances at the Kansas City Chiefs home stadium in support of the American football player’s games and Kelce singing along at her shows and even participating at her concert in Wembley stadium during her Eras world tour to spending multiple date nights and enjoying sports games together, the couple are showing no signs of slowing down.
Most recently, rumours began circulating that Swift apparently wanted her Kelce to step down from his position as tight end for the Chiefs and stop playing football all together. Given that Kelce has spent much of the past year accompanying the global popstar around the world on her tour and his continued pursuance of his New Heights podcast and appearances in shows such as Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity? and Grotesquerie, the news of his possible retirement did not seem entirely too far fetched.
However, Kelce broke his silence on the matter on January 15, during an appearance on the Stephen A. Smith show.
The football star was quick to shut down the rumours surrounding Swift urging him to quit, ‘She’s fully encouraged me to enjoy playing this game,’ he stated. ‘She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me. I have all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.’
Later, Kelce opened up about his personal plans for the future of his career, ‘I love everything that I’m doing in this building. But at the end of the day, I’m not having that extreme success on the field as I have individually man. I’m excited for these next couple games to play up at Arrowhead, to finish this season off.
‘I’ll reevaluate it as I always do. And I’ll probably tell myself how much I love this thing and I’ll come back next year. It’s something you have to keep in perspective man. I never want to get to the point where I’m not helping this team win or I’m hurting this team more than I’m helping this team.’
Kelce cemented his stance on continuing to play football for the foreseeable future, ‘As long as I’m coming out here and playing good football and enjoying coming into the building every day with my guys, you’ll see me in a Chiefs uniform.
