Cub Tracks’ slow cooking

WELCOME to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor. No artificial intelligences were deployed, employed, entranced, or embalmed in the commission of this missive (apparently I might be training some though). Cub Tracks eagerly awaits the advent of robotic umpires and has already amended the three laws. The going is weird. Cub Tracks turned pro a long time ago.

Cub Tracks. Where the great ones run away.

The rumor mills are still churning, and Luis Castillo, Jack Flaherty, and many of their brethren are reportedly headed to the airport to pick up Roki Sasaki and Alex Bregman. We’ll see if they get lost on the way to the park like so many Pascual Perezes.

C’mon guys! Who’s gonna be dubbed “I-90”?

  • Evan Altman (Cubs Insider*): Understanding motor preference could help Cubs, other orgs improve player development. “… we’re talking about understanding nuances in how a person’s body naturally wants to move.”
  • Michael Cerami (Bleacher Nation*): How much better does the Cubs’ 2025 catching tandem project over last season? “… a gigantic RELATIVE improvement behind the plate.”
  • Jake Misener (Cubbies Crib*): Former beloved Cubs superstar has his eyes set on redemption this season. “It’s been nothing but frustration and disappointment since Kris Bryant left for Colorado.”
