Heading into the 2026 NFL offseason, one of the major storylines surrounding the Buffalo Bills had to do with the future of young wide receiver Keon Coleman.
Last season, Coleman dealt with some issues away from the field. He had problems with the team and was a healthy scratch for multiple games. It seemed that he could end up being a trade candidate this offseason.
So far, the Bills have opted to hold onto Coleman. New head coach Joe Brady seems to have plans in place for the young wide receiver.
Keeping that in mind, Brady has spoken out and announced a clear update about Coleman’s future in Buffalo. It sure sounds like he is going to remain with the Bills.
Bills HC Joe Brady Opens Up About Keon Coleman
While speaking to the media, Brady didn’t hold back his high opinion of Coleman. He made it clear that he seems Coleman taking a big leap in year three.
“The thing with Keon is from a football standpoint, man, his work ethic, his approach, how he’s going through it,” Brady said.
“If Keon just takes care of, and I know I’m talking about his personal, but if he just takes care of himself off the field and he just shows up, he’s gonna be good to go. The growth that Keon’s gonna have from this year to next, Keon is on our football team.”
Brady continued forward, stating that the coaching staff will be focused on getting Coleman back on track and that he was one of the people who wanted Buffalo to draft the wideout.
“Keon, I’ve never said anything negative. I was the first to tell everybody, I wanted Keon Coleman. So Keon’s not gonna just be pushed aside. He’s gonna continue to develop. And Drew Terrell’s gonna have a great plan of, what we’re going to do to be able to get him to be the receiver that we ultimately drafted to be.”
Keon Coleman Still Has Star Potential for Buffalo
Coleman was selected with the No. 33 overall pick at the top of the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft. When the pick was made, the Bills felt that he could develop into a No. 1 target.
Even though things haven’t gotten off to the expected start, Coleman still has that level of talent and potential.
Throughout his first two seasons in Buffalo, Coleman has racked up 67 receptions for 960 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 games. At 22 years old, he has shown flashes of the potential that made the Bills draft him so high.
With Brady taking over as head coach and having such a strong belief in Coleman, the young wide receiver should have more confidence entering the 2026 season. He’ll also be playing alongside of star wide receiver D.J. Moore, who was acquired from the Chicago Bears.
Hopefully, Coleman can take a big third-year leap. If he’s unable to do so, Buffalo would almost certainly look to move on next offseason.
