Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is making headlines off the field again, only this time it’s not as controversial as recent news featuring the speedy receiver.
Rice took to Instagram on Valentine’s Day to announce a new relationship, ending speculation about a high-profile girlfriend for the Chiefs star. Rice has been through a difficult year, serving an NFL suspension after he was convicted of charges related to a street-racing incident and later facing allegations of domestic abuse.
Amid the controversies, Rice has apparently gotten some positive developments as well.
Rashee Rice Confirms New Girlfriend
Rice took to Instagram on Saturday to share images with an apparent new love interest, rapper and social media star Rubi Rose. Rice shared a picture of the pair together on his Instagram story, with her striking a pose while he flipped off the camera.
Rose also appeared to confirm the relationship, posting several pictures with Rice on her own Instagram story. That included a shot of the couple sharing a kiss.
There had been rumors connecting Rose and Rice leading up to their hard launch of Valentine’s Day, but both had remained quiet about the relationship.
Rashee Rice Facing More NFL Punishment
Rice is facing allegations of domestic violence from Dacoda Jones, the mother of his two children. She took to Instagram late last year to detail the allegations, including images of herself with scratches and bruises.
Though Jones did not mention Rice by name, she added that she faced years of abuse — during the time that she and Rice were in a relationship.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image,” Jones wrote. “I’ve been through enough in the span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and it’s been nothing but hell.”
Rice had already served a six-game suspension for his charges related to a street-racing incident where he pleaded guilty to felony charges, and SI.com’s Zak Gilbert suggested he could have more on the way.
Gilbert predicted that the NFL could treat Rice as a repeat offender, which gives players longer suspensions after they have already gotten into trouble off the field in the past.
“Rice would join a group of several players who’ve faced multiple investigations under the personal conduct policy, including Ezekiel Elliott, Antonio Brown, Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs,” Gilbert wrote.
Gilbert wrote that this could mean a “substantial” suspension for Rice, which could stretch up to an entire season.
“And because the league tends to come down harder on repeat offenders, there’s a possibility the NFL would levy a substantial suspension this time, perhaps a full season,” Gilbert wrote.
That puts the Chiefs in a difficult spot as well, sending them into the 2026 season with uncertainty surrounding two of the most important parts of the offense. While Rice is awaiting a potential suspension, tight end Travis Kelce is still contemplating whether he will retire or return to the NFL for another season.
