Ahead of Sunday’s AFC East rivalry game against the New York Jets, the Patriots already ruled out a pair of rookies on the offensive side of the ball.
Both Ja’Lynn Polk and Layden Robinson will be inactive on Sunday. Neither practiced this week, as Polk remains in concussion protocol and Robinson is recovering from an ankle injury.
Eight other New England players are questionable for the afternoon matchup in Foxborough:
- DT Daniel Ekuale (abdomen)
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder/personal)
- G Michael Jordan (ankle)
- T Vederian Lowe (ankle)
- LB Raekwon McMillan (back)
- G Sidy Sow (illness)
- LB Sione Takitaki (knee)
- DE Keion White (knee)
Ekuale and Jones did not participate in Friday’s practice, an indication that they are less likely to play than some of the other Patriots with questionable designations.

Robinson was a consistent presence on a rather inconsistent Patriots offensive line this season. He played 267 snaps for New England so far this season. Though he’s given up four sacks and has an overall grade of 55.2 according to Pro Football Focus, the rookie has still played an important role on the offense.
Polk also has some rookie struggles to overcome, but Drake Maye has been supportive of the young receiver throughout his up-and-down 2024 campaign.
With Polk sidelined, Tyquan Thornton will return to the Patriots lineup. He was a healthy scratch each of the previous two weeks.
“Looking forward to seeing him in the game,” New England coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Friday. “He’s had a great week of practice. Hopefully it translates.”
The Jets are dealing with a few key injuries of their own heading into Sunday. Safety Ashtyn Davis and offensive lineman Elijah Vera-Tucker are ruled out against the Patriots, while receiver Allen Lazard and safety Tony Adams are both doubtful to play.
Kickoff for Patriots-Jets is set for 1:00 p.m. at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
