When the Green Bay Packers lost Tucker Kraft to a season-ending injury, it was obvious they’d never fully replace their star tight end.

But somebody had to take his place, and it looked like it’d be Luke Musgrave.

Well, not anymore.

The SB Nation Packers website broke down the Week 11 snap counts from the Giants game, and it’s not flattering news for Musgrave.

“Last week, Luke Musgrave looked like the Tucker Kraft replacement, coming in to play 77 percent of the offense’s snaps against the Philadelphia Eagles,” writes Justis Mosqueda. “This week, though, he was the third tight end in the rotation, a brutal indication of what the Packers think of the former second-round pick. In the second half against the Giants, John FitzPatrick played 16 snaps, Josh Whyle played 11 and Musgrave played only 2. It’s never been more over.”

Whyle even caught a touchdown.

The Packers could continue to feel this out going forward. It’s a key spot in their offense, and they’ll want to optimize tight end production to help their chances of making the playoffs and making noise once they get there.

Having no Kraft was always going to be tough. Right now, the Packers are trying to figure out whether Musgrave was the best choice to replace him in the first place.

In the end, it may turn out Kraft was irreplaceable.

Detroit — In a stunning and unprecedented move, the NFL has voided last Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles, ruling that “severe officiating violations” compromised the competitive integrity of the matchup. The league has ordered the contest to be fully replayed during the penultimate week of the regular season — a decision that instantly sent shockwaves across team facilities, front offices, and fan bases nationwide.

“You know, I’ve been in this business long enough — and I have never seen anything this unsportsmanlike and this blatantly biased in my life. When a player goes for the ball, you can recognize it right away. But when he goes after a man — that’s a deliberate choice. That hit? It was intentional.

In a stunning postgame outburst that sent shockwaves across the league, a veteran coach delivered one of the most blistering statements of the season — accusing officials of failing to protect players and calling a controversial hit “the most unsportsmanlike” act he has ever witnessed in his long career.
