The Kansas City Chiefs lost a winnable game and, as frustrating as that is, the even more frustrating part of all of this is that, after working themselves out of a 1-3 hole, this team is now 5-5 and not in the playoff picture. It’s not a great situation to be in exiting Week 11.
Travis Kelce, one of the few Chiefs players who played well in Denver (nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown), knew that’s exactly what reporters were going to want to talk to him about following the game. He opted not to speak with the reporters though and instead sent a clear message to them on his way to the locker room.
“If you’re gonna ask about the record, I could care less about that right now,” Kelce said.

Travis Kelce doesn’t want to talk about the Chiefs’ record
It makes sense why Kelce didn’t want to talk about this. In his mind, his team has played 10 games and been woefully inconsistent but still can accomplish what they set out to accomplish by finishing the season strong. Why spend time talking about a record when there are still seven games remaining in the regular season?
That being said, it is a bit of a strange feeling to see the Chiefs sitting at .500 this late in the season. Normally they’re at least at the top of their division but this loss likely means that if they do get into the playoffs, it’ll be as a wild card team. The Chiefs still have games against the Broncos, Chargers, and Colts remaining on their schedule and they can’t afford to lose any of those at this point if they want to continue their playoff streak.
Kelce is clearly frustrated with his team’s efforts, as are the fans, but it doesn’t sound like the record is something he’s going to lose sleep over. Now, everything else the team has struggled with, that’s probably another story.
