When we talk about the heights of fashion, there is nothing more top shelf of the top shelf than Louis Vuitton — a luxury brand out of Paris that stretches almost completely across the board and rakes in an estimated $15 to $20 billion each year.

Want a $2,000 handbag? Or a $1,500 alpaca sweater? Hit up Louis Vuitton.

One thing the famed fashion house isn’t known for? Football cleats.

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue, somewhat inexplicably, found that out the hard way this week as he was forced to ditch a pair of Nike/Louis Vuitton football cleats because they were giving him blisters.

For a player who was at one time splitting first team reps with Javonte Williams during training camp before an ankle injury sidelined him for the last month, it’s hard to understand why Blue was even taking a chance on the fashion friendly spikes.

“Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue debuted new Louis Vuitton-Nike cleats at practice on Thursday, and HC Brian Schottenheimer laughed in saying that it was a ‘questionable decision.’ ” The Fort Worth Star Telegram’s Nick Harris wrote on his official X account on October 3. ” … Blue changed out of his shoes and the blisters got better. (There’s no concerns about his game availability, for the record).”

Williams Took Over RB1 Duties for Cowboys

While Blue may have competed with free agent veteran Javonte Williams for the starting spot during training camp, Williams has left little doubt as to who the Cowboys’ RB1 is moving forward and has been a breakout star on offense through the first 4 games.

Williams leads the Cowboys with 312 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns to go with 16 receptions for 74 yards and is averaging a career high 5.0 yards per carry.

To put it in perspective, the Cowboys rushed for just 5 touchdowns, total, in 2024.

Williams struggled the last few seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he rushed for just 513 yards and 4 touchdowns in 17 games in 2024 and averaged an underwhelming 3.7 yards per carry.

While Miles Sanders has served as RB2 through the first month, it appears Blue will get his chance in that role on Sunday.

“I’m very excited,” Blue told The Cowboys Network. “I was waiting for my time. I stayed patient. I was told to trust the process. I knew eventually if I stayed consistent and worked hard that time would come.”

Injuries Stole Blue’s Momentum in Preseason

In the Cowboys‘ final preseason game, against the Atlanta Falcons on August 22, Blue was forced to exit the game in the second half following an ankle injury.

It was the second significant injury setback for Blue in the preseason. On August 7, Blue had to leave practice with an ankle injury and had been out for several weeks leading up to the game against the Falcons.

The first time Blue was injured, he had just started to earn reps with the first team offense.

Against the Falcons, Blue had 9 carries for 25 yards and 1 touchdown before he was injured running the ball in the second half. It was the first preseason action for Blue after he missed the first 2 preseason games due to his original ankle injury.

Blue was a fifth round pick (No. 149 overall) in the 2025 NFL draft out of the University of Texas.
