Patriots injury updates: Pats lose starting defender in win over Panthers | Pats Pulpit

The New England Patriots are facing some injury questions heading into their primetime matchup with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. Among those whose statuses are uncertain are a pair of starters, left guard Jared Wilson and outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson.

Both were made available to talk to the media inside Gillette Stadium on Thursday, which is in itself a positive sign.

“It’s the league, you know? It’s just the game,” said Chaisson about the knee ailment he is dealing with. “You can never ask for too much. As long as I’m available to play, I’m excited to be out there.”

A starter on the defensive edge opposite Harold Landry, Chaisson was forced to miss Wednesday’s practice because of his injury. However, he sounded optimistic about his ability to help the Patriots against the Bills this week.

His optimism was reflected in his participation status in practice. After being held out the previous day, the 26-year-old returned on Thursday. While still limited, the arrow is seemingly pointed in the right direction.

That is also the case for Jared Wilson.

“Taking day by day,” the rookie said on Thursday. “I don’t really want to speak too much on it. I kind of just go out there and do my thing.”

Wilson was sidelined for all of last week because of knee and ankle injuries, and subsequently ruled out for the Patriots’ win over the Panthers on Sunday. The third-round draft pick was limited in his own return to practice on Wednesday, and then upgraded to full participation the day after.

The Patriots’ game against the Bills will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY, on Sunday.
