Tragically, Patriots’ key member loses his wife (Breaking News)

Denise Chong Highsmith was a beloved member of the NFL community. At the age of 61, she passed away unexpectedly:
Denise was the wife of former NFL running back Alonzo Highsmith. He played from 1987-1993, suiting up for the Houston Oilers, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs. In 2012, he became a senior personnel executive for the Green Bay Packers. That led to stints with the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. He’s currently a personnel executive for the New England Patriots.
The cause of death for Highsmith’s wife hasn’t been announced at this time. However, a memorial service note was shared on Instagram this week.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, Denise Elizabeth Highsmith,” the post read. “Denise was truly one of a kind—a fun, loving, and free-spirited soul who embraced everyone without judgment. She poured into the lives of others with kindness, laughter, and service, and in doing so, she found joy and fulfillment. To know her was to feel seen, loved, and uplifted.

As you’d imagine, NFL players who worked closely with the Highsmith family are devastated by this loss.
“Truly a living angle walking this planet,” Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones said.
“Praying for the family mama I love you and thank you for being there always checking on me and just treating me like I’m one of your kids ( I am) this one messed me up. I know you’re looking down protecting us from things we can’t even see. I love you.”“What a beautiful soul and light to everyone,” former NFL linebacker Christian Kirksey said. “Praying God comfort and cover the family.”
“One of the best matriarch’s ever that led the Highsmith family. Praying for you all,” one person commented.
“Mama Dee a true light in this world. It’s always hard losing someone like her because of who she was. She made us all feel seen, loved, and understood. I’m so grateful for her love & her service to her community. May she rest in eternal peace and love. I love you forever Mama Dee,” another person wrote.
Denise recently celebrated her 35th wedding anniversary with her husband.
