The Miami Dolphins are trying to deal star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and ESPN has “reported” that the Dallas Cowboys are among the three potential suitors. The report, however, is wrong.
FRISCO – We have explained often that the Dallas Cowboys have a plan about wanting to be patient with their current group of cornerbacks, and that includes Pro Bowl standout Trevon Diggs, who could be injury-rehabbing all the way to the middle of this season.

That’s why Stephon Gilmore’s name keeps coming up – but in our view, as a contingency idea if needed down the road. And Mike Hilton and Asante Samuel and all the other ideas.
Maybe. Down the road.
But what about now?
The Miami Dolphins are trying to deal star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Friday “reported” to the world that the Dolphins are engaged with multiple teams on a Ramsey trade …
And then Fowler named the Cowboys as being among the three potential suitors.
Said Fowler: “The NFC East could be one to watch. … Dallas Cowboys, they made three trades this offseason. … Could they make a fourth trade?”
Hmm. Besides Fowler getting his numbers wrong (this offseason Dallas has engineered four trades, having acquired George Pickens, Joe Milton, Kenneth Murray and Kaiir Elam) … his claim that “I checked with somebody in Dallas (who said), ‘Look, it’s possible we might not be done. It’s slow right now’ …”
Oh, it’s slow, alright.
A Cowboys team source tells CowboysCountry.com flatly that there is no truth to the ESPN report.
As we wrote earlier this week as a cautionary note: As is too often the case with Fowler’s “reporting,” is comes across as highly speculative, with an “anything could happen” tone.
But this one? Dallas has no plans for it to “happen.”
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has confirmed that Ramsey’s time with the organization is all but over as the two have mutually agreed to look for a trade partner.
A player north of 30 years old who was given a $72 million contract extension just before last season? Talented as Ramsey is, that’s not an idea setup – for Dallas or most anybody else.
And that’s why at this stage of the offseason, Miami has found difficulty in teams checking both of those boxes as a trade suitor.
Meanwhile, back to reality in Dallas, where the candidates right now to play opposite DaRon Bland include Kaiir Elam (the former Bills first-rounder acquired in trade) and Shavon Revel Jr. (a prized rookie rehabbing his knee).
And the candidates, per our source, do not include Jalen Ramsey.
