Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith was left stunned by how much of a ‘beautiful human being’ Taylor Swift is in the early days of her Travis Kelce romance.

Swift and Kelce went public in September 2023, with the singer confirming their relationship by going to a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium alongside her boyfriend’s mom, Donna.

Soon after, Kelce introduced her to his Chiefs teammates – including Smith, who was blown away by how friendly she was to him.

‘It was just super normal, being able to meet her early on and just talking to her,’ Smith said in an appareance on New Rory and Mal.

‘I think you meet her as a human being, as a person face-to-face, you understand she is a beautiful human being.’

Smith then added how he was humbled the second time he met Swift when she remembered exactly who he was.

‘She is awesome, super nice, she is thougthful, she is kind. She remembered my name and my sister’s name after meeting us, months later. Just a small thing that meant a lot.’

Smith added that he didn’t understand just how famous Swift was until she started dating his teammate Kelce.

‘For me, I didn’t know how big of a deal Taylor Swift was,’ he admitted. ‘How much of a star she is until she got there and I started realizing, like watching people move around and like, ok, this is different.

‘But I think the biggest thing with Taylor is how nice of a person she is. She really is dope, she is awesome.’

Smith added that as far as he can remember, Kelce hasn’t ever played a Swift song in the locker room with his teammates.

‘He hasn’t done that,’ Smith said with a laugh. ‘It is a battle (to get your songs played). The defensive line are good and getting you hyped up.’

The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on the 25-year-old Smith in February, keeping him in Kansas City for at least another season on a $23.4m salary.

But the organization wants him there for the long term.

‘There’s no lack of interest or will or desire on our end,’ Chiefs GM Brett Veach said back in February about getting Smith on a new long-term deal.

‘I’m sure once things settle down on both ends, we’ll be in a position to continue this dialogue and hopefully make some progress there.

‘There’s no secret there that we’d like to get Trey locked up.’

Attention for the Chiefs on the 2025 season will sharpen next week as the NFL announces the schedule for the new season.

Key games will be announced on Monday and Tuesday, with the full schedule for every team dropping on Wednesday night.

For Swift, meanwhile, Smith’s comments come at a time where she has been controversially embroiled in the feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

The 35-year-old Eras Tour star was sent legal notice on Friday by 41-year-old Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman as a witness.

A rep for Taylor gave a blistering response to DailyMail.com which read: ‘Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.’
