The biggest storyline in Major League Baseball as the new week begins is in the wake of the Boston Red Sox firing manager Alex Cora. Some insiders and analysts across MLB were shocked, and others, not so much, but regardless of how anyone feels, the Red Sox are under some organizational turmoil at the moment.

The Red Sox decided to bring in WooSox manager Chad Tracy to be the interim. Along with Alex Cora being fired, Craig Breslow also decided to get rid of the hitting coach, the team’s bench coach, and the game-planning coach. On Monday, the Red Sox announced the men who will be taking those positions for now.

Who Are the New Red Sox Coaches?

Per MLBTradeRumors.com, the Boston Red Sox have announced a few coaching decisions:

“The Red Sox announced that they have added three new coaches to their staff today. José David Flores is now the interim bench coach. Pablo Cabrera is the interim first base coach/outfield instructor. Jack Simonetty has been hired as an interim hitting assistant. Chris Cotillo of MassLive first reported the news on Flores and Simonetty while Alex Speier of The Boston Globe was first on Cabrera.”

In what sent shockwaves across MLB, Boston leg go of several coaches on Saturday afternoon after a 17-1 victory. But all in all, it’s been a poor start for the Red Sox to start the season, and it feels like there’s a good amount of scapegoating going around.

Several players on the Red Sox have been vocal about the organization’s handling of this situation, including Trevor Story, Garrett Whitlock, and Roman Anthony.

What’s Next for the Red Sox?

With so many games left to be played on the schedule, it’s hard to rule any team fully out, especially given the fact that the summer months tend to bring a lot more parity in the sport.

However, there’s no denying that wholesale changes needed to be made in Boston.

After such an active offseason, making several player additions and spending some big-time cash on MLB free agents, the Red Sox carried a lot of postseason aspirations into this season.

So, what’s next for Boston? Well, first, they need to get on a little bit of a winning streak to see if the Alex Cora decision was actually a good one, but if they do that, the MLB world may start to buy back into Boston.
