Black’s college journey adds depth to his story: after four seasons at James Madison, he transferred to Indiana to follow coach Curt Cignetti and thrived in a high-powered offense. The pick was not without controversy. Some viewed selecting a running back in the third round—especially one not widely mocked there—as a luxury in a deep class.
