Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow Sends Message After Trade Report

The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading into 2026 with momentum toward building a dynasty after winning a second straight World Series title. The front office has continued to be aggressive in both the free agent and trade markets, intent on assembling a roster capable of a three-peat.

Earlier this week, they signed closing pitcher Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million contract to solidify what was arguably their only weakness, the bullpen.

Now reports have surfaced that the Dodgers are interested in trading for left-handed starter Tarik Skubal, widely regarded as the best pitcher in baseball and currently with the Detroit Tigers.

According to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, the Dodgers were willing to consider moving right-handed starter Tyler Glasnow as a potential headliner in a deal for Skubal.

“Tyler Glasnow’s name has come up in conversations, and the Dodgers would not be opposed to moving him,” Gonzalez reported Thursday. “Maybe he’s part of the package that brings Tarik Skubal to L.A.”

On Sunday, however, Glasnow shut those rumors down. According to Dani Wexelman of ESPN, Glasnow said Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman informed him he would not be traded.

“Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow told us on @MLBNetworkRadio Sunday Sliders that Dodgers President of Baseball Ops Andrew Friedman told him he isn’t being traded,” Wexelman reported on X.

That stance makes sense given Glasnow’s impact since arriving two offseasons ago. The 32-year-old earned his first All-Star selection in 2024 and served as the ace before an injury sidelined him for the playoffs, though the Dodgers still won without him.

In 2025, the situation flipped as he missed much of the regular season but returned for October, delivering in both starting and relief roles.

Glasnow posted a 1.69 ERA with 25 strikeouts and one save in six postseason appearances, a dominant showing. Across 40 regular season starts with Los Angeles, he owns a 3.37 ERA with 274 strikeouts in 224 1/3 innings, cementing his place as one of the most devastating pitchers in baseball.

If the Dodgers do pursue Skubal, it now appears they would need to take an alternate route that does not involve Glasnow.
