Welcome to the Cam Schlittler show, baby! The 2025 MLB playoffs were the introduction of the star pitcher to the MLB world. Now playing in his first full season in the league, the New York Yankees sophomore pitcher is breaking out as one of the best players on the mound.

What makes Schlittler so good? Is it his delivery, his velocity, or his pitch arsenal? If you ask his Yankees teammate Jazz Chisolm Jr, Schlittler’s attitude is what makes him such an elite player. Chisolm compared him to two of New York’s best pitchers in Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon.

“He has that F.U. attitude, like Carlos [Rodon] and Gerrit [Cole], that everybody loves,” Schlittler said, per Bryan Hoch. “You want that out of a starting pitcher, that can just flip the switch and go out there and be a ‘dawg.’”

Schlittler is having a career-best season for the Yankees. After his incredible 2025 postseason, the star pitcher is having an excellent sophomore year. In seven games, Schlittler has posted an insane 1.51 ERA, striking out 47 batters and having an absurdly low 0.74 WHIP. He’s not allowing a lot of batters to get on base against him.

Schlittler’s latest masterpiece came against the Texas Rangers. The Yankees star had six scoreless innings, recording eight strikeouts in New York’s 3-2 win. That win improves their record to 20-10 on the season, continuing their dominance over the league. Aaron Judge recorded a home run to lead New York to victory. Judge also talked about his pitcher’s dominance on the mound.

“He’s just laser-focused,” Judge said after the Yankees’ 3-2 victory over the Rangers at Globe Life Field, per Hoch. “He embraces every opportunity. The times I’ve talked to him, or we have moments on the bus together; he wants to be in the moment. He’s not scared. There’s no fear.”
