🚨 BREAKING: Cubs Set Their Sights on $3.75 Million, 150 Strikeout Ace to Form Deadly 1‑2 Punch with Shota Imanaga—Could This Game-Changing Trade Be the Key to a Playoff Push and a World Series Contender?

The Chicago Cubs did well to retain their ace in Shota Imanaga, but even with him, they still need an upgrade in their rotation. Although there may be an easy trade they can make to get it.

Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes the Cubs can make a trade with the Miami Marlins for starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, whose sinker could play well in Wrigley Field with the Cubs iron defense behind him.

“The Chicago Cubs need starting pitching, even with Justin Steele’s looming return. Edward Cabrera feels increasingly likely to move this offseason as the Miami Marlins target more offensive support. Under club control through 2028 at cheap arbitration rates, Cabrera might be the ideal Cubs target. Operating primarily in the sinkerball and off-speed registers, Cabrera generates a ton of groundballs and should benefit from the Cubs’ airtight defense,” Kline wrote.

This past season, Cabrera posted an 8-7 record, an ERA of 3.53, 150 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.228 in 137 innings pitched. And, with a much better defense at his back, his ERA is sure to drop, and his record is sure to improve.

Having a rotation with Imanaga, Cabrera, Cade Horton, and Justin Steele would give the Cubs stability. Their rotation could be argued as the best in their division as well, especially if Freddy Peralta is moved from the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hopefully, the Cubs start negotiations soon and get Cabrera on their roster ASAP.
