Patrick Mahomes Had Brutally Honest Response to Chiefs First Loss

On Sunday afternoon Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills handed Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season. Following the game, sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson attempted to illicit a response from Allen by asking him if he thought this was “just another Week 11 win” despite the significance of the matchup. He didn’t take the bait.

“It is, it’s another Week 11 win,” he said candidly after the game. “Knowing how things usually play out we’ll probably see this team again at some point. We’ve got to get there first so like I said, we’ll enjoy this bye week and go into the next week after that and put together a good game plan and try to go 1-0.” Mahomes had a very similar reaction to the Chiefs moving to 9-1 on the season. He admitted the Bills are a quality football team, but wasn’t getting hung up on the regular season loss.

“The undefeated thing was cool, but that’s not our ultimate goal,” he said bluntly. Buffalo iced the game thanks to a late 26-yard touchdown run from Allen in the final minutes of the game. He thanked head coach Sean McDermott for allowing the offense a chance to win the game.

“Yeah, appreciate Coach McDermott for trusting the offense going out there,” he said about his 26-yard touchdown run. “We had a man play, they dropped out to zone and they had something good for it. I was just trying to make a play and help our team win a football game. You know, some things we need to clean up, some throws I wish I had back, but we’re going into the bye week 9-2…we’ll take it.” In the end, Buffalo walked out with a 30-21 victory. But both Allen and Mahomes know this is just the regular season.
