The Green Bay Packers are 6-3 and coming off of their Bye Week, ready to make their late season push for a spot in the NFL Playoffs. Their week off came at a good time for the team, as starting quarterback Jordan Love was injured multiple times in the first half of the season. He is no longer on their injury report and was a full participant in practice this week.
Other Packers players, too, used the time off to get their bodies right and prepared for the second half of the season. Among these were two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander and rookie safety Evan Williams. Green Bay was without both defensive starters in their loss to the Detroit Lions in Week Nine.
Unfortunately, two of their high draft picks from this year’s NFL Draft were unable to get healthy and, in fact, will be out for multiple weeks.
Green Bay Packers Rookie Running Back Marshawn Lloyd Needed Surgery
The Packers drafted running back Marshawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, planning for him to be a major part of their new-look run game. Aaron Jones was released and replaced by Josh Jacobs in what was one of the biggest surprises of the offseason.
AJ Dillon was re-signed to an extremely team-friendly deal, so friendly that many thought he might lose his job to Emanuel Wilson and/or Lloyd.
Instead, Dillon was injured in the preseason and placed on season-ending injured reserve,
Unfortunately, Lloyd has had injury troubles of his own. After coming into training camp hurt, he injured his hamstring in Green Bay’s second preseason game. When he finally did get healthy enough to play in Week Two, he suffered an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve. Lloyd has been out ever since.
Over the Bye Week, the Packers opened Lloyd’s practice window, which meant they had 21 days to add him to their active roster. And it certainly looked like that was going to happen soon.
But Lloyd woke up one morning with extreme stomach pain and had to go to the hospital. As it turned out, he had appendicitis and needed surgery.
He will be out for at least a few more weeks and could be out for the remainder of the season.
Green Bay Packers First-Round Pick Jordan Morgan Was Placed on Injured Reserve
On Saturday, the Packers announced that their 2024 first round pick, Jordan Morgan, was going on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. This is an injury that has hampered him all season long, but was aggravated in the game against Detroit.
Fans, who have been waiting to see him get consistent snaps, were bummed:

Morgan has usually come off the bench when he has played, but started against Detroit due to injuries to other linemen.
