While Green Bay Packers fans keep on thanking Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for trading superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to their team just before the start of the 2025 NFL regular season, Jones himself doesn’t seem bothered by the criticism people are leveling at him for that move.
“There are 30 other teams other than the Cowboys playing without Micah, this week, Jones said during a recent appearance on 105.3 The FAN (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic ). “There’s ways to play defense and scheme that don’t necessarily involve any player, whether it be Deion Sanders, looking way back, or who it is, a lot of people won a lot of games and didn’t have Deion Sanders on the field for them. How’d that happen?”
That the Packers are turning heads with two wins already to start the 2025 NFL season isn’t helping Jones’ case. Green Bay defeated the Detroit Lions in Week 1 and the Washington Commanders on Thursday.
At the same time, the trade has been made, and there’s really not much else left for the Cowboys to do on the Parsons front other than to hope that Kenny Clark plays at a high level for the Dallas and that the two future first-round picks from Green Bay would turn out to be stars in the pros.
Jones under fire after doubling down on Parsons’ trade to Packers

Jones’ explanation, however, isn’t calming down Cowboys fans, who remain angry over Dallas’ decision to move on from the four-time Pro Bowler, who may have not even reached his peak yet in the NFL.
“You can spend years & a few dozen picks & not land an elite top 5 pass rusher. So.. good luck with all those late first round picks.,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “Sounds a little defensive, as he should be. The difference between Dallas and those other 30 teams playing without Micah? Dallas had him and let him go.”
From a commenter: “Jerry Jones is the absolute worst owner in all of football. I’ve been a Cowboys fan before he bought the team and I will be a Cowboys when he joins his buddy Al Davis”
“They Cowboys won’t find another impact player like Parsons while Jerry is alive, maybe Stephen too,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “did he confuse Micah with Dak? trade Dak is the quickest way to a superbowl!”
Said another: “This is exactly the wrong philosophy, but hey. It’s Jerry. If he was right about things he wouldn’t be in the midst of a 30 year “drought”.”
