The New York Yankees had off on Monday night, but Anthony Volpe still found a way to go viral.
Volpe, 24, is currently in his third season with the Yankees. He’s batting .207 this year with 19 homers and 70 RBI. Although he’s a former Gold Glove winner, he has really struggled in the field this season. The New Jersey native already has 19 errors with 19 games left to play. For comparison’s sake, he had 16 errors all of last season.

On Monday night, Volpe took a break from the diamond to attend a silent auction hosted by the Carlos Rodón Foundation. This event took place at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor in Greenwich, Connecticut.
A video of Volpe arriving to the event with an apparent date grabbed everyone’s attention on social media.
Who is the mystery woman by Volpe’s side?
It didn’t take long for people to identify Volpe’s date as Elle Jowett.
Jowett currently has 15,800 followers on Instagram. A few fans have already commented Volpe’s name on her posts.

Back in December of 2023, Jowett said she moved to New York City after growing up in Maine. She was a student at the time of that interview.
In that same interview, Jowett said she wouldn’t date an Italian due to a prior experience.
“I was dating an Italian guy for a year and he was still talking to other girls,” she said.
If she’s dating Volpe, then it’s safe to say softened her stance on talking to Italians.
Neither Jowett nor Volpe have addressed all the buzz they’ve generated online. To be fair, they’re not even 24 hours removed from this event.

The Yankees will take on the Detroit Tigers at home this Tuesday. Prior to first pitch, Volpe received some advice from five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter.
“You just gotta keep at it. You gotta stay positive. Gotta keep working. From everything I’ve seen, he’s gotten a lot of support from his teammates and from the front office. That’s a good sign. So, you just gotta go out there and try to be as consistent as possible,” Jeter said. “One of the most difficult things to do is to try to forget what’s happened up until a particular point. For him or anybody, at this point of the season, statistically you can’t change it. You can get a hit every at-bat the rest of the year. You’re pretty much not going to change anything. But you can help the team from this point forward. It’s an important couple of weeks, and hopefully a long run in the playoffs.”
We’ll see if Jeter’s advice and Jowett’s presence help turn Volpe’s season around.
