On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills will kick off their season against the Baltimore Ravens in what could be a preview of the AFC Championship Game. While the Kansas City Chiefs remain the team to beat in the conference, having won it three consecutive years, both Buffalo and Baltimore are close to knocking them off.

The Ravens have ruled out fullback Patrick Ricard and tight end Isaiah Likely for the contest, while the Bills will be without kicker Tyler Bass, who was placed on injured reserve on Friday.

Bass isn’t the only scoring weapon for the Bills dealing with an injury. Second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman appeared on the injury report with a hamstring injury on Wednesday.

Coleman practiced on Friday, and there is little concern about him missing Sunday’s game. When reporters asked him on Friday if he was worried about missing the game against Baltimore, he replied, “Nah”, via Alaina Getzenberg from ESPN.

Keon Coleman Needs to Have a Good Season

Coleman was a second-round pick of the Bills last year. He appeared in 13 games last season, recording 29 receptions for 556 yards and four touchdowns.

The 22-year-old receiver missed four games last season due to a wrist injury. The Bills are expecting big things from Coleman this season after having a great training camp. Bills quarterback Josh Allen praised Coleman for how he handled one-on-one situations in camp.

“He has consistently done that this camp and is still seeing a lot of growth in his game and just the nuance to playing the receiver position and doing the things that we’re asking him to do. He’s taking it in stride right now, and he’s having a really good camp,” Via Mike Moraitis from Buffalo Bills On SI.

One of the reasons why the Bills drafted Coleman last season was to take over Stefon Diggs’ role. Last offseason, Buffalo traded Diggs to the Houston Texans, and the team didn’t do much in free agency to solve the receiving problem.

While Diggs was in Buffalo, he picked up 5,372 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns in 66 games. Coleman has big shoes to fill. While he likely won’t match Diggs’ production, he still has the potential to be a standout receiver for the team.

The Buffalo Bills’ Offense Has Other Stars

Buffalo doesn’t need Coleman to turn into Superman; they need him to be on the field every week. The offense is in good hands with Allen, running back James Cook, and wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

Both Cook and Shakir received contract extensions this offseason, with Cook signing a four-year, $46 million deal and Shakir signing a four-year, $53 million deal.

It will be interesting to see how the Bills’ offense performs on Sunday, as it will be the first time all starters have been together on the field since January. Allen didn’t see any live action during the preseason, and sometimes, when the starting quarterback doesn’t see preseason games, it could set the offense back a few weeks.
