BREAKING : Cowboys Have Change of Heart on Playmaker & Cut Ties With Ex-Starter at the last minute

BREAKING : Cowboys Have Change of Heart on Playmaker & Cut Ties With Ex-Starter at the last minute - News 365GettyThe  made a pair of roster moves just days before the team takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL season opener. Dallas announced the roster moves on August 30, 2025, including reuniting with a receiver who had previously been cut two days earlier. The  wideout  to the team’s practice squad, while releasing guard Saahdiq Charles. The veteran offensive lineman previously played four seasons for the Washington Commanders.

Charles  for Washington in 2023. Dallas initially released Flournoy to make room for offensive lineman Trevor Keegan.

Now, Flournoy rejoins a Cowboys wide receiver room that, on paper, appears improved from last season thanks to the team’s trade for touted wideout George Pickens.

Here’s what you need to know about the Cowboys’ latest news and rumors ahead of the Eagles clash.

WR Ryan Flournoy Made the Cowboys Initial 53-Man Roster Prior to Being a Late Cut

All eyes will be on Pickens and how the playmaker fits alongside CeeDee Lamb in the Cowboys offense. Dallas listed Jalen Tolbert as the team’s third wideout over KaVonte Turpin.

Flournoy is expected to be Dallas’ fifth receiver, but his role is a bit complicated given the wideout is on the practice squad. The receiver made the initial 53-man roster prior to being a late cut as a result of his special teams play.

“Over the past two or three weeks, I would say there’s been no one that has played special teams more dominant than Ryan Flournoy,” Schottenheimer noted after finalizing the 53-man roster,

“As a gunner he’s been unstoppable… and he’s done a really good job playing receiver with contested catches versus press release.”

Dak Prescott on Cowboys Trading Micah Parsons: ‘I Don’t Think Anybody’s Hung Up on (Trade)’

These are minor roster moves that do not quite compare to the Cowboys’ shocker pulled off days earlier. Cowboys players are still reacting to the blockbuster Micah Parsons trade, including Dak Prescott. The Dallas quarterback does not see the team having a hangover after abruptly losing Parsons.

“I’m not going to say we’re better,” Prescott said reacting to the trade during an August 31, media session, “We’ve got to go out there and prove it. We had to prove it even if he was on this team, so I’m not going to say that by any means,” Prescott said. “But I know what adding a guy like Kenny Clark, adding a true leader, a real man that’s going to only elevate this team, who’s been a Pro Bowl player and is excited about being here [means].

“I know our focus right now is Philly. I think that’s everybody’s focus in that locker room. I don’t think anybody’s hung up on [the Parsons trade]. As I’ve said, there’s enough news and enough media about it. I think as much as anything it’s good that a solution happened. Obviously, Micah got paid. He got paid very well and great for him and his family. And we’ll see him here in about a month.”
