Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber Shares NL Player of the Week Honors With Giants’ Star

The Philadelphia Philles are on the road on Tuesday night as they face off against the Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of their three-game series.

Philadelphia was able to take the first game of the series on Monday as they defeated the Brewers 10-8 behind a massive night at the plate from both Brandon Marsh and Harrison Bader.

Now the Phillies will look to pick up another victory on Tuesday night as they try to grow their lead in the National League East standings over the New York Mets, who they currently lead by six games.

Before the Phillies take on the Brewers on Tuesday night, the MLB made an announcement regarding Kyle Schwarber.

Kyle Schwarber named Co-NL Player of the Week with Rafael Devers

The MLB announced that Schwarber has been named as NL Player of the Week alongside San Francisco Giants star Rafael Devers as the two share the award.

This is a massive accomplishment for Schwarber who is in the middle of an incredible season.

Last week, the slugger posted a four-home run game against the Atlanta Braves as the Phillies defeated the Braves 19-4.

For Schwarber, this was a historic night for him as he became just the 21st player in MLB history to record four home runs in a single game and he also added 10 RBI.

Of course, the 32-year-old slugger has put together an incredible season that has him in the running to win the NL MVP award if he can beat out players such as Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Juan Soto of the Mets.

This season, Schwarber is batting .245 with 20 doubles, an NL-leading 49 home runs and he has also recorded the most RBI in the league this season with 119.

For Schwarber, he is in the middle of arguably the best season of his career and he has played a major role in the Phillies’ success.

Philadelphia now hopes that Schwarber can continue his monster season as they try to not only win the NL East over the Mets, but also beat out the Brewers and Dodgers for the top seed in the NL heading into the postseason.
