After Micah Parsons signed a $188 million deal with the Green Bay Packers, he shared some of that money with his mother, Sherese.

During a press conference on Friday, Parsons formally announced his retirement, citing the passing of his mother, as reported by Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report. Parsons reflected on how hard his mother had worked. Additionally, he showed a video of his mother crying upon hearing the news that she doesn’t have to work anymore.

I’ve seen her work since I was a boy … of working three jobs, two jobs, now she can just chill out for a while,” he said.

Parsons is riding high off the monumental trade from the Cowboys. A saga that had been going on over the summer over the desire for a lucrative contract extension. In August, Parsons requested a trade from the Cowboys when he didn’t get what he wanted.

Even turned down a five-year $202.5 million offer from the Cowboys. With the addition of Parsons, the Packers increase their Super Bowl chances.

Additionally, the Packers are solidifying Parsons’ position as the leader of a young defensive line, combined with a high-powered offense. Thus, making Green Bay a top team. Meanwhile, the Cowboys will have to live with this decision for years to come.

Nevertheless, Parsons is entering a new period of his career while still in his prime.

Micah Parsons and his relationship with his mother

Parsons has an extremely close relationship with his mother. While in Dallas, he fulfilled a promise he made to her by buying her a home in 2021.

He has referred to his mother as his “biggest blessing”. Altogether, Parsons has credited her with keeping him out of trouble and providing a stable household for him and his siblings.

As he makes his transition from Dallas to Green Bay, his workplace may change, but a son’s love for a mother never wavers.
