Packers Sign Starter To Massive Long-Term Contract Extension

On the day that the Green Bay Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst made final cuts to trim the roster to 53 players ahead of Week 1, one of the team’s starters received a significant raise.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers and long-snapper Matt Orzech agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth $4.8 million.

Orzech now becomes the third-highest long-snapper in the NFL, and continues to provide stability for the Packers on special teams.

Orzech has already struck up a strong chemistry with kicker Brandon McManus, which the pair are hoping to build on in 2025, and beyond.

“It’s kind of been that way ever since he got here,” Orzech explained. “Even through all the crazy winter months with the wind, it’s crazy on that practice field, but he handles it in stride. He never lets a miss of what he thought a line would do get to his head, and he just keeps taking each kick as it is.”

Green Bay signed Orzech, 30, last season, and he appeared in all 17 games while also notching one total tackle.
