The San Francisco 49ers’ game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers didn’t count toward the standings, but there was still a cool moment for 49ers fans at Levi’s Stadium.
Terique Owens, the son of 49ers legend Terrell Owens, signed with the club last year as an undrafted rookie. He spent the season on the practice squad, but did enough to stick around for a second preseason with the club.

Owens hasn’t made a ton of noise in camp, but he did make some in the preseason finale. One week after hauling in his first ever NFL reception in the second preseason game vs. the Raiders, Owens snared his first-ever touchdown to help the 49ers take a commanding 30-16 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Owens isn’t liable to make the team and he could be headed for another season on the practice squad. Still, a touchdown is big-time progress from his first preseason and it gave 49ers fans at Levi’s Stadium a cool moment to take with them after a preseason game that didn’t feature many starters on either side.
