Roughly two weeks away from the start of the regular season, all eyes are on the Dallas Cowboys. Following an offseason full of drama, Micah Parsons remains at odds with the organization over his contract situation.
As most know, Parsons is in the final year of his rookie deal and eager to secure a long-term extension. He spoke briefly with Jerry Jones about it, but things have gotten nowhere since the All-Pro linebacker brought his agent into the mix.
This ended up growing into a dragged-out and public affair, with both sides taking shots at one another. The most jaw-dropping moment was when Parsons took to social media to tell the world his grievances and requested a trade.
Now with the season just around the corner, the Cowboys find themselves in a worst-case scenario with one of their top homegrown players. It’s unclear if he’ll be on the field to start the year, but nonetheless, many people only expect this saga to end with both parties going their separate ways.
Stephen A. Smith believes Micah Parsons will eventually move on from the Dallas Cowboys
During a television appearance on Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter dove into the latest regarding Parsons and his feud with the Cowboys. Given the current nature of things, he believes this could be the star linebacker’s final campaign with the iconic franchise.
“The way people are talking,” Schefter said, per ESPN. “Yeah I would think there’s a real possibility that, if he plays this season, that this potentially could be the last year of Micah in Dallas.”
While on First Take, Stephen A. Smith was asked his thoughts on such remarks. He echoed the notion that Parsons won’t end his career with the Cowboys, citing the team’s already expensive roster as one of the biggest roadblocks for Jerry Jones.
Stephen A. also believes that Dallas is also surveying what kind of return they could get for the 26-year-old.
“I agree with him,” Stephen A. said of Schefter’s remarks. “I think right now he is contemplating looking at Micah Parsons and seeing what value you could get in return for his services. You might be able to pick up a couple of first-round picks. You might be able to pick up a couple of players. This could be a mega mega deal if you Jerry Jones.”
Seeing that he didn’t practice at all during training camp due to a back ailment, there is no telling what Parsons’ status will be when the Cowboys take the field Week 1.
