Over the past few weeks, it’s felt like Minnesota Twins fans have been dealt nothing but gut punches from the organization they love the most. It started with the team’s fire sale at the deadline, and then, shockingly, the Pohlad family announced earlier this week that they will be remaining in place as the principal owners of the team. The announcement felt like the knockout blow to a fanbase that was hoping that an ownership change would mark brighter times. Instead, it projects more doom and gloom.

It felt like frustrations finally boiled over during the Twins’ loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night. A controversial call in the 11th inning resulted in Rocco Baldelli unleashing an NSFW tirade that likely resonated for every Twins fan watching.

For Twins fans in attendance, they certainly took out their frustrations on the Pohlad family. As Tim Laudner was talking about the game during the Twins’ postgame show, the remaining Twins fans in attendance weren’t shy about what they wanted.

Twins fans reach their breaking point with the Pohlad family and make it known

There is no need to turn up the volume.

That is Twins fans chanting ‘sell the team.’ If anything, the moment just highlights how tone-deaf the announcement from the Pohlad family earlier this week felt. In the background of every decision that the Twins have made in recent years was the idea that the Pohlad family was working toward selling the team. It was just this last offseason when Justin Ishbia was in line to be the next owner of the Twins before pivoting in the direction of the Chicago White Sox.

The frustrations from Twins fans were long overdue. The organization, specifically, the Pohlad family, has completely ignored the best interests of the fans while the team, on the field, has spiraled toward the bottom of the American League Central.
