he Chicago Cubs traded for Kyle Tucker last offseason, and after he has put up another strong season, he is still primed to be a free agent in the winter, barring a late-season extension.
R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports projects the lefty to be the third outfielder to receive a deal of $40 million or more annually, joining Juan Soto and Aaron Judge.
Tucker has been one of the steadiest bats in the league for the last five seasons, including four consecutive All-Star appearances. Although Tucker has not led the league in any category outside of RBIs in 2023, he has received MVP votes in three separate seasons and has a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger already in his trophy case.
Tucker has hit 30 home runs twice and has flashed his power despite his numbers being down this season; he is still on pace to launch 20-plus baseballs out of the yard again this year.
Tucker is likely to hit the open market with less than two months to play and no deal being done yet to stay on the North Side of Chicago. His consistency has him projected to be the top option for teams looking for an outfielder this winter, and his play has him toward the top of the league.
Tucker is going to be focused on not letting the postseason slip away from the Cubs this year and is looking to add another World Series title, but once the season ends in Chicago, his phone is going to be busy with teams requesting his services.
