On Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs will continue their series with the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Georgia.

The Cubs are coming off a 5-2 loss on Tuesday.

Before Wednesday’s game, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reported the news that the Cubs are signing Liam Hendriks to a Minor League contract.

Ghiroli wrote: “The Chicago Cubs have signed RHP Liam Hendriks to a minor league deal, sources tell the Athletic.”

Hendriks has not appeared in an MLB game this season.

He is coming off a year where he went 0-2 with a 6.59 ERA in 14 games for the Boston Red Sox.

Hendriks (who is 37) spent the first three seasons of his MLB career with the Minnesota Twins.

He then had stints with the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox (before the Red Sox last year).

Over 14 seasons, the three-time All-Star has gone 33-36 with a 3.88 ERA in 490 games.

Cubs Right Now

The Cubs are off to a strong start to the year with a 27-15 record in 42 games, which has them at the top of the National League Central.

That said, they are just 9-10 in the 19 games they have played away from Wrigley Field.

Following two more games against the Braves, the Cubs will visit the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
