Tom Brady now has a statue in front of Gillette Stadium. Mike Vrabel couldn’t be bothered to give his players a heads up.
Not that he owes them one, of course. But with Vrabel having played alongside Brady for years and the two remaining friends in the years since, it is feasible he would at least say something about Brady’s recognition on Friday.
Not the case.
Brady was in attendance Friday at Gillette as the Patriots unveiled the statue. Vrabel was asked Monday on WEEI if he talked to the 2025 team about being in the shadow of Brady, and whether the quarterback spoke to the team.
“Never said a word, and no he didn’t,” Vrabel replied.

There’s that.
For myriad reasons it makes sense that Brady wouldn’t pop into the locker room for a chat — perhaps chief among them that he has an ownership stake in a different team.
That might complicate things going forward, but it doesn’t sound like it will totally preclude Brady from basking in his Patriots glory on occasion.
