The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed linebacker Larry Worth III to a three-year contract. To create roster space, the team released linebacker Milo Eifler.
Worth III, a 6-foot-4, 226-pound athlete, brings legitimate size, production, and versatility to a 49ers linebacker group that continues to evolve. The former Jacksonville State and Arkansas standout appeared in 47 games (21 starts) across four college seasons, compiling 201 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, six passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and one interception.
His most recent campaign at Arkansas in 2025 saw him start 11 of 12 games, recording 64 tackles, one pass defensed, and 0.5 tackle for loss. In 2024, also with the Razorbacks, Worth III appeared in 13 games (five starts) and posted 54 tackles, two passes defensed, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and 0.5 sack.
His most productive season came in 2023 at Jacksonville State, where he started five of 13 games and delivered 63 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two passes defensed, one interception, and one forced fumble. As a freshman in 2022, he contributed 20 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one pass defensed, and one forced fumble across nine appearances.
Standing at 6-4 and 226 pounds, Worth III possesses the length and physicality to challenge tight ends in coverage while also possessing the downhill burst to make plays in the run game. His career numbers reflect a player who has steadily increased his impact, particularly when given starting opportunities.
Milo Eifler, who originally signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers on January 7, 2026, was released in the corresponding move. The 6-2, 225-pound linebacker had been viewed as a depth piece entering the offseason.
With this addition, the 49ers have injected fresh competition and upside into their linebacker room at a relatively low cost. Worth III’s blend of size, tackling production, and takeaway ability gives defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen another tool to deploy in both base and sub-package situations.
The NFC has officially been put on notice. A 6’4″ tackling machine with a proven knack for disrupting plays just joined the red and gold. If Larry Worth III translates even a portion of his college production to the NFL, the 49ers may have found a hidden gem capable of making noise on special teams and defense alike.
Welcome to San Francisco, Larry Worth III. The destruction begins now.
