Mike Tauchman delivered a game-ending infield single in the 11th inning and Lenyn Sosa homered twice to help the host Chicago White Sox defeat the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 on Friday to earn a doubleheader split.

Chicago right-hander Mike Vasil (4-3) scattered three walks and two strikeouts in three scoreless innings of relief.

Vasil walked two Guardians with two outs in the 10th to load the bases but escaped trouble by retiring Brayan Rocchio on a groundout to second.

He worked out of another bases-loaded jam in the 11th, inducing Kyle Manzardo on a double-play grounder.

Nolan Jones had two hits for the Guardians, who won the opener 4-2 but were unable to stretch their winning streak to five games in the nightcap.

Angel Martinez delivered a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning for Cleveland. The Guardians remained ahead 4-3 until the bottom of the eighth, when the White Sox knotted the score with a sacrifice fly set up by a Daniel Schneemann throwing error.

Sosa launched the first of his homers with one out in the first inning to put the White Sox ahead 1-0.

Jose Ramirez sent a two-run blast into the right-field stands with two outs in the third to give the Guardians a 2-1 advantage. It was Ramirez’s team-best 18th homer this season and fourth in the past five games.

Chicago tied the game in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly. The White Sox regained the edge on another Sosa solo shot in the fifth as the second baseman delivered his second multi-homer game of the season to join a June 25 effort against Arizona.

Cleveland tied the game at 3 with Rocchio’s RBI double in the sixth.

White Sox starter Jonathan Cannon scattered two runs and three hits in five innings with three walks and five strikeouts. Cleveland counterpart Gavin Williams allowed three runs and four hits in five-plus innings. He walked five with five strikeouts.

Guardians lefty Kolby Allard fell to 1-1, allowing an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings.

Acquired this week in a trade with Toronto, Chicago left fielder Will Robertson went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in his club debut before leaving for pinch-hitter Austin Slater in the sixth.
