Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Sophia Laufer has had one heck of a productive offseason.
Laufer, 21, who appeared on Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, debuted her relationship with boyfriend Jake Van Emburgh via Instagram on Wednesday, May 28.
“What my heart’s been up to the past 3 months…❤️,” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos of the couple attending her sister Kyla’s wedding, hitting up the Dallas Farmer’s Market and traveling to Los Angeles for a Dodgers game.
Some of Laufer’s fellow DCC teammates expressed their excitement in the comments section.
“I scream everytimeeeee!!!!😍😍😍 so happy for you!!! I just love you so much!🥹🩷,” Darah Haidet commented.

Karah Hayes wrote, “AHHH!!! Love seeing you so happy 🥹,” while McKenna Gehrke commented, “Love this soph 😍 eeekk!”
Some clues about how Laufer and Van Emburgh met were also dropped in the comments section.
“They found love in a hopeless place (LAX) !!! 🤭🤭,” Cowboys cheerleader Elizabeth DiGiovanni wrote, while teammate Madeline Salter said, “I love airport love stories ❤️❤️❤️.”
Van Emburgh is a tennis professional based in Naples, Florida, according to his Instagram. He played college tennis at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in December 2021. Van Emburgh then played one season at Ohio State University as a graduate student.
His father, Greg Van Emburgh, played on the ATP Tour for 10 years and reached a career-high ranking of No. 28 in the world.
Laufer completed her third season as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader in January.
Before the start of the season, Laufer took a moment to gush about the support of her family and friends on social media.
“I couldn’t be more lucky to have the best family and support system in the world!” she posted via Instagram in August 2024. “Having you here for these special moments, makes my heart SO happy! I will cherish these memories forever!!🩷🫶🏻💙.”
One month prior, Laufer expressed her gratitude about making the squad for a third consecutive season.
“Feeling SO lucky & blessed to wear these boots for a 3rd season!⭐️🫶🏻🤍” she wrote via Instagram. “I’m so excited to live out this dream for another year! I cannot wait to make more memories and dance along side my best friends! Love you all the most!!🥰🩷.”

Laufer was featured on the first season of Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, which premiered in June 2024.
“Feeling beyond blessed and cannot thank everyone for all the love and support I’ve been receiving🫶🏻,” Laufer said via Instagram after the premiere of the show.
Season 2 of America’s Sweethearts, which will chronicle the 2024 Cowboys season, hits Netflix on June 18.
