Ronald Acuna Jr. promises ‘MVP giveaway of $100,000’ in car washes after opening new location in Kennesaw

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., coming off an NL MVP season in 2023, has had a tough 2024 season. Against the Pittsburgh Pirates in May, Acuna suffered a leg injury that was initially believed to be soreness.

However, an MRI later revealed a tear in his left anterior cruciate ligament, which resulted in him missing the remainder of the season. Despite a challenging year on the field, the 26-year-old Acuna had something to celebrate off the field.

Acuna opened a new car wash in Kennesaw in partnership with Big Peach Car Wash. Sharing the news while also announcing a giveaway for fans, he wrote on his Instagram story:

“Hey friends, my brand new car wash in Kennesaw is now open! To give back to my fans, I’m doing an MVP giveaway of $100000 in free car washes. Text ‘ACUNA’ to 22322 to claim yours! Thank you for always supporting me!”

Ronald Acuna Jr. and Big Peach Car Wash entered into a partnership, signing a master licensing agreement, according to Franchise Journal.

Ronald Acuna Jr. won’t be ready for the opening day roster, per Braves general manager

Ronald Acuna Jr is still recovering from his left knee surgery to repair the injury that restricted him to only 49 games in the 2024 season. This season, he has posted a .250 batting average with four home runs, 15 RBIs, 16 stolen bases and 27 walks in 192 at-bats for the Atlanta Braves.

On Tuesday, Braves president of baseball operations and general manager Alex Anthopoulos discussed Acuna’s injury, saying (via The Athletic’s David O’Brien):

“We’re planning on not having them on the Opening Day roster. How soon after that, we’ll see how that goes. And as we get closer and get into spring training, we’ll probably be able to update that.”

Another Braves player who won’t be ready for the Opening Day roster is Spencer Strider. The right-handed pitcher was limited to only two starts this past season due to a right elbow surgery in April.
