Brock Purdy San Francisco 49ers Contract Announcement Has Fans Divided

Brock Purdy was once the last player selected in the NFL draft. Now, the San Francisco 49ers star quarterback has secured a bag that not a lot of people thought he’d get when he was taken 262nd in the 2022 NFL draft by the Niners.

On Friday, the NFL shared news of Purdy agreeing with San Francisco for a $265 million extension contract.

From the NFL’s official X (formerly Twitter) account:

Fans are split on Brock Purdy’s contract with the 49ers

Such big contract news will always generate intense reactions from the fans. While many feel Purdy deserves his new deal with San Francisco, others think that the Niners overpaid for him.

“His agent ROBBED the 49ers 😭”

“the niners are so cooked for the next decade 💀”

“Last pick of the draft getting this type of money is awesome to see”

“This is gonna turn out worse than the Deshaun Watson deal”

“Fantastic signing. Purdy is an elite QB. What’s the case against him?”

“worth every penny. best qb in the nfl”

Although fans’ stances on his extension contract are divided, Purdy has a chance to prove his naysayers wrong. That heavily depends on what he can do on the field, beginning in the 2025 NFL season. In 2024, the former Iowa State Cyclones QB passed for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns against 12 interceptions on a 65.9 percent completion rate through 15 games.
