Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell practicing first base drills at Fenway Park – The Boston Globe

Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell worked with infield coach José Flores and bench coach Ramón Vázquez on first base drills at Fenway Park on Friday afternoon.

The Red Sox have been exploring options at first since Triston Casas suffered a season-ending rupture of his patellar tendon earlier this month.

If Campbell can take to the position, it could open the door for a call-up of infield prospect Marcelo Mayer, who is playing for Triple A Worcester.
