Packers Cheerleader Suffers Awful Facebook Bullying, Answers Back with Video

Because people can be the absolute worst, one young woman who only wanted to cheer on her Green Bay Packers has been hit with awful bullying on Facebook.

WTMJ 620 reports the plight of a wonderful woman who is the target of some deplorable Facebook post at the moment.

According to the report, Kaitlyn Collins found out her image was uploaded to this Chicago Bears Facebook page on February 4. As of this writing, the image still remains, despite Collins asking for the picture to be taken down.

Here is a screen capture of the post, featuring Collins and the deplorable question, “Like if You Agree The Packers Have The Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL!”

The page is an unofficial fan page and has over 86,000 likes. The actual post has, as of this writing, over 3,400 likes, and according to the report, some comments that are vulgar.

In response, Collins took matters into her own hands. She decided to not hide, but to step forward and proudly fight back with the following YouTube video.

The video is Collins providing a back story, along with some of the more awful comments, followed by some from Bears fans who defended her, making her smile.

According to the video, Facebook has not taken the image down because it does not meet their standards of bullying. I would consider posting a picture to personify “ugly” with an image of a lone woman—one who was then greeted with a still-growing list of atrocious comments—as bullying.

Ah, what do I know?

The Internet, unfortunately, will continue to be a landscape for trolling, bullying and ill-will intended to harm and humiliate.

We are cynical enough to know this will keep happening, despite best wishes, but we remain hopeful things may change, especially with the help of such people like T.J. Lang and Donald Driver who are sticking up for Collins.

Please don’t succumb to the usual banter; that this is somehow indicative of a particular sports team. This isn’t about Chicago Bears fans being awful, it’s about people being awful.

Bullying is not relegated to a Bears and Packers rivalry, nor is it merely an issue with sports in general. This takes place far beyond this special sphere or the Internet in general.

Unfortunately, bullying is an issue that envelops the world and can only be fought with a head held high.

I fully support Collins.
